What we did on Rainbow Six: Black Arrow
I see the man I'm looking for as I round the corner on the top floor of the office building, he's about six feet tall and toting a desert eagle .50, and yup, he's got a friend. This friend just so happens to be carrying what looks like a G3A3 7.62mm assault rifle, bollox! I could walk away but they have something my friends and I need. I open fire and take out the friend with a double tap to the head, easy-peasy, the man with the Deagle, alerted by the noise, turns around and immediately opens fire, I duck left to avoid the volley and empty the rest of my clip into the wall, shit! The man takes off down the corridor and I pursue, just as he is about to round a corner I fire about ten rounds into his back, the contents of his chest cavity cover the wall in front of me, a thought flies through my brain, barely registering itself, hmm looks like raspberry jam. I pick up the chemical canister he dropped and switch to my sidearm, now for the hard part.
I alert my team to my success and request some backup on the nearby airfield. I am told that backup is already in place. I duck down and strafe in between my team mates who are laying down suppressing fire in order to get me to the canister drop off point successfully. Time is short and a lone sniper in the office complex window has taken out half my team. A marksman of our own deals with the sniper and with seconds to spare I deposit the canister at the drop off point. Fifty-five seconds left, just enough time to bag a few kills of my own. I switch to my G3A3 and pop out from behind the boxes covering the drop off point, I see two enemies moving towards me from the bottom of an alley, a car drives past nearby, I hear it with my ears but not my brain, two seconds and eight rounds later two men are dead and we have completed our mission.
This is Rainbow Six 3: Black Arrow
When people who aren't familiar with the world of online gaming are drawn into a conversation about it they generally seem to dismiss it as something for the geeks, the shut-ins, the people who don't have girlfriends. I would counter this point by saying it is a hobby, an extremely satisfying hobby in which you can have a lot of fun and meet new and interesting people and you also get the chance to express your appreciation for them by introducing their virtual brains to virtual daylight, it's great.
